Mother

The mentally handicapped young man Do-joon lives a secluded life together with his mother. After the murder of a schoolgirl, he becomes the prime suspect, because he was seen following the victim to the scene of the crime at night. Without real evidence, he is arrested and interrogated. After the officers force a confession and his lawyer proves incompetent, Do-joon's mother decides to take matters into her own hands to prove her son's innocence.
Oscar-Preisträger Bong Joon-Ho liefert in Mother wiederum seinen genialen Mix aus Spannung, Tragik und Komik, der ihn spätestens mit Parasite weltberühmt machte. Die Frage, was eine Mutter für ihr Kind tun würde, wird in Mother konsequent ausgereizt, denn Bong wäre nicht Bong, wenn alles so ablaufen würde, wie man sich das zu Beginn vorstellt.
